History

As a symbol of love and friendship, the lei dates back to the ancient Hawaiians. People of all ages treasure these floral garlands and wear them with pride.

The lei became increasingly popular in the 1800's during the time of steamship travel to Hawaii. Visitors from all over the world were greeted with the aloha spirit and fresh flower leis. Legend has it that if a departing visitor tossed their lei into the ocean and it floated back to the beach, that meant that the person was destined to return to the islands. As ships left the ports of Hawaii, many leis could be seen floating in the blue ocean water.

Leis are worn by both men and women and can be also made of feathers, stones, nuts and even dollar bills. This ancient tradition still thrives in the islands and is becoming more and more popular throughout the world. Just recently many mourners at the World Trade Center anniversary were seen wearing leis and then placing them in the center ring at ground zero.

Leis represent a range of emotions and are presented at all types of occasions. The history and traditions of these gifts are timeless and are the ultimate symbol of the aloha spirit. Welcome to my humble website and please allow me to help you extend this feeling of aloha. Remember, you are not just sending flowers, you are sending aloha.
