Presenting a lei has its customs:
- Carefully drape the lei so that it does not hang in front.
- Go ahead - give 'em a kiss! It's tradition!
- Extend your best wishes and remark on how attractive the person looks wearing the lei.
Wearing a lei has its traditions:
- When? Anytime, any day, and for any reason! Yes, you may wear the lei tomorrow and/or more than one lei at a time. Just try not to sleep on it.
- When not wearing the lei, it is acceptable to hang it in your office/home/or car as it brightens any setting it's in. Leis often serve as lovely centerpieces too!
- When dancing, it is appropriate and suggested to wear the lei so that it hangs in back, thus protecting the flowers.
